Thousands protest Gonski cuts

Thousands of people across Australia protested the cuts to university funding on May 14th. Protest rallies and events were held throughout the country against the federal government’s $2.3 billion cuts to the university sector in order to fund the Gonksi Review’s reforms for primary and secondary schooling. In Brisbane hundreds gathered in Brisbane Square to hear guest speakers and show their support for the Dumbs Cuts campaign.

A number of guest speakers and union representatives spoke to the crowd. Greens member Adam Stone, the party’s lead candidate for the senate, also made a speech.
